Setting up at Lobster Cove.
Lunchtime demo at Swim Beach.
Our hike out to Whitehead, great views of Gull rock and Blackhead.
Painting demo at Swim Beach.
A quick demonstration on the first day will get everyone going, and then the whole week will be spent painting one beautiful place after another.
The week's schedule will change a bit with the weather.
Saturday: Meet and greet at the Island Inn. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. A time to get to meet other students and I will possibly do a quick demonstration to get everyone started and to demonstrate my style of painting and teaching.
Sunday: A very quick (20 - 30min) demonstration to explain my procedure in starting a painitng. Then everyone can paint on the Inn's front yard or in the vicinity.
Monday, 9 - 12: Swim Beach. There are many beautiful views to choose from in this area, the surrounding roads and of course the beach itself. 12:30 - 2:30, You can leave your easel up, grab a sandwich from a local store and watch me do a demonstration during your lunch. 3 - 6. Work on a different painting same area.
Tuesday: 9 - 12, South end of Monhegan near the Wyeth house. Great views looking towards Lobster Cove or Manana. 2 - 5, surrounding area, possibly behind the Cabot cabin looking towards Manana. Great late afternoon spot to stick around for.
Wednesday: 9 - 12, Trailing Yew. They have quite a few choices of baked good and beverages here in the morning. 1pm, after a nice lunch (many places to choose from at this time of the year) meet at the church for a hike up to Burnt Head and if anyone wants to continue, through to Lobster Cove (with a possible stop at the Monhegan Brewery). We are out on a fantastically beautiful island and I feel everyone should take off from painting for at least half a day to hike, explore, just sit and watch the sea gulls, do some sketching. A necessary break.
Thursday: 9 - 12, Lighthouse. A good morning hike to the top of the hill and then paint some spectacular views of the surrounding buildings, or an overview of the village and Manana. 12:30, quick run to see the views at Whitehead. 2 - 5, stay at the Lighthouse or work your way down to the cemetery for some different, interesting views.
Friday: 9 - 1, Horn Hill. Take a nice morning stroll up the hill to see some great views of the village and Manana. 1:30. Lunch at the Island Inn on me. Final crit afterwards at Zimmie's.
